Kellie Grigg was a D-1 collegiate runner whose passion for the sport and pursuit of athletic achievement spiraled into an unhealthy obsession with exercise and ‘clean eating’.
Recovering from her eating disorder required her to untangle the qualities that contributed to her success on the track from those that manifested in her ed. Ultimately her identity as an athlete had to be severed, and that intense, difficult journey to recapture control was marked with vulnerability and countless hurdles to overcome.
Through perseverance and support she was able to take back her freedom around food and exercise and re-establish balance in her life. Along the way, Kellie has shared her experiences in an effort to reach other athletes struggling with eating disorders, to offer support, and to provide a warning of the implications of taking the desire for athletic excellence too far.
