Alaya Selby works in marketing and is studying Business Administration in Texas. She struggled most of her life with excessive exercising, calorie counting and obsessing about her weight and figure--things that our culture have normalized or even condoned. It wasn't until fairly recently that she realized that the way she talked to herself, and related to her body weren't healthy.
When she became pregnant, she struggled with her changing body. All the parts of her body society tells us we're supposed to control were changing on their own. She dealt with postpartum depression, and worried about the stigma of single motherhood. When she discovered body positivity, and opened herself to all the joys of having a little girl, her perspective completely shifted. She's now evolving into a body positive advocate and an inspiring voice for young mothers.
